Germans counter attacked last night in some strength but we repelled them with heavy losses. They are like some tremendous, wounded animal thrashing about in its death agonies. The Jerries seem to attack only when our air force is not fully effective. Last night a heavy snow fall made it almost impossible for air craft to operate in our sector. The Russians are still making some progress. I do not believe that their goal is short of Berlin this time. Our artillery was active and efficient last night. They were instrumental in blunting the attack.
The day has been rather quiet (after the storm). No Jerry shells have landed in this area. Our aircraft today destroyed an additional 1000 enemy vehicles and 50 tanks. They certainly co-operate with the other branches of the service. Berbourg has not lacked in excitement for us and I rather like the place but it would be nice to be back with people again. At our present location (especially at night) when anything moves it gets shot at (We have little movement as a result). I helped bring our situation map up to date about 1900 and hit the sack room afterwards.

The weather really turned cold last night and this morning when I got up at 0600. My knees were shaking so much, I could hardly get my trousers on. Our aircraft destroyed another hundred enemy vehicles this morning. [Continued on next page]
