Tuesday, 9 January [1945] Bougnimont, [Belgium]
More snow, cold as hell. Not much change in enemy situation. Lt. Arenstein called to Bn late at night to prepare a defense for D. Btry man accused of raping Belgian Girl. 1Lt. David Arenstein served in the same unit as Goetz. He served as the Base Commander of the unit. Spent the night listening to rumors that a couple of air borne soldiers brought back from the front. Their story sounded so flimsy. We took them into custody as being AWOL. If they aren’t there is no harm done.

Wednesday, 10 January [1945] Bougnimont, [Belgium]
Same old grind. We have advanced slightly but nothing to become too enthused over. We seem to be on a peaceful little island in the middle of a battle field, something surely must break soon. Lt. Arenstein still away on rape case. He has studied law and is usually picked whenever legal talent is required. He always kicks about it but I think that he is rather pleased with it all.

Thursday, 11 January [1945] Bougnimont, [Belgium]
A little behind the lines in Libramont, a platoon of Americans were peacefully sleeping in a house, when a truck loaded with mines backed into the house. 2Libramont‐Chevigny is located in the province of Luxembourg in the southernmost region of Belgium.
