[Continued from previous page] The 2nd platoon has moved beyond Roth.1Roth is a town in Bavaria, Germany located just south of the city of Nuremberg, one of the Nazi fortresses during World War II. They are still with the 912th F.A. By the way, the incident of the truck versus 88 took place adjacent to a dynamite dump. Lt. Lavin was seeking protection behind several boxes of TNT. The next shell landed behind a rapidly moving jeep. Prisoners are coming in fairly rapidly now. They all have the same story. Their morale is dropping, bad food, etc. They sound too rehearsed to me. Either the Nazi party is doing its Post War Planning now or I am cynical. Quite a few planes passed overhead today. Hit the sack at 2100.

We are now within three days of having 3 months constant combat, usually within two miles of the front – (1st Experience with mine) TANKS–EN‐(15) IN WOODS ‐ E. OF Roth. The weather has cleared up somewhat and we are getting more plane support. I spent a lot of time today studying an intelligence booklet on German mines. May come in handy. Hit the sack at 2000.

Up at 0630. Shaved and had breakfast by 0800. Steady artillery fire today, otherwise routine. Turkey is supposed to come in on our side today and Egypt also.2Turkey declared war against Germany and Japan on February 23, 1945, while Egypt declared war on Germany and Japan on February 24, 1945.
