Did little during the day. Went to bed early. Had a good night\u2019s sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Saturday, 28 October [1944]   Littlecote<\/strong><br>Worked \u2018Til noon. Went to Hungerford and put up at the 3 Swans Hotel.<sup class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote \" data-mfn=\"1\" data-mfn-post-scope=\"00000000000030110000000000000000_965\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"  role=\"button\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-describedby=\"mfn-content-00000000000030110000000000000000_965-1\">1<\/a><\/sup><span id=\"mfn-content-00000000000030110000000000000000_965-1\" role=\"tooltip\" class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote__note\" tabindex=\"0\" data-mfn=\"1\">&nbsp;The Three Swans Hotel was formerly a coaching inn built in 1300. The Three Swans Hotel is located in Hungerford, Berkshire, England. Despite being over 700 years old, it is still in use. \u201cBest Western-Three Swans Hotel.\u201d Accessed April 24, 2014. Threeswans.co.uk <\/span> Visited friends in the afternoon. Went to a show that night, with the Pollord family. We saw a war picture that has its setting in the south Pacific. It was very good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sunday, 29 October [1944]   Littlecote<\/strong><br>Spent the day visiting the Nicholas family in Hungerford. Met an old gentleman who had been a foreign correspondent for Times (London) for 30 years. We played bridge and swapped stories for several hours. Went back to camp about 2300. Hit the sack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Monday, 30 October [1944]   Littlecote<\/strong><br>Some talk of leaving Littlecote, soon.&nbsp; I certainly hope so. I have made some friends in the paratroopers and am eager to get over where the fighting is in progress. The Paratroopers and infantrymen deserve a lot of credit. They are doing a wonderful job under very difficult conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tuesday, 31 October [1944]   Littlecote<\/strong> <br>Today was Pay Day.
