
John Tenniel was an English illustrator and political cartoonist, 1820-1914. He’s responsible for drawing the original illustrations for Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass. Along with the creation of the Alice books illustrations, Tenniel was remembered for being the main cartoonist of Punch Magazine. He was the first illustrator/cartoonist to be knighted in 1893, for artistic achievements. Tenniel was also the winner of the House of Lords competition for a Palace of Westminster Mural.
