Yabsera Faris ’17 Oral History

Yabsera Faris, class of 2017, majored in Africana and Women Studies. She was founder and president of the Goucher Women of Color Circle (GWOCC), and president of the Black Student Union during her enrollment. Faris was also instrumental in organizing peaceful protests on Goucher’s campus. She also created the oral history project, Black at Goucher, which interviewed Black alumni about their life and experience at Goucher. She can also be credited with leading initiatives to educate prospective students of color about how current marginalized students experience Goucher.
