Beteley Mulatu, Esq. is an attorney and Goucher College alumna whose work and academic experiences reflect a deep commitment to history, justice, and public service. She graduated from Goucher in 2019 with a major in History and double minors in Africana Studies and Legal Studies. During her time at Goucher, she was actively involved in campus leadership, serving as chair of the Academic Honor Board and the History Conference, a Resident Assistant, and a member of the social justice committee. She also contributed to significant archival and historical projects, including the Epsom Farm transcription project and the Hallowed Ground Project, which emphasized historical memory and the legacy of enslaved people connected to the campus.
After Goucher, Beteley earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law with a concentration in litigation and advocacy. She currently works as an associate attorney at Goldberg Segalla, where she represents employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in workers’ compensation matters. Her legal background includes experience in the Office of the General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Marshals Service, and a judicial clerkship with the Hon. Gregory Sampson of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Across her academic and professional journey, Beteley continues to draw on her historical training to understand context, uplift marginalized narratives, and approach her work with analytical depth and integrity.
